I am a Jacksonville real estate appraiser with twenty years experience in commercial appraisal throughout the State of Florida. I have a state certified general appraiser license, am a MAI member of the Appraisal Institute and have a real estate sales license.
A native Floridian, besides going off to college, I have remained in Northeast Florida in the Jacksonville, Florida area. I attended Florida State University (FSU) and gained a Bachelor of Science in both Finance and Real Estate. During this time I had a real estate professor who gave me the bug to invest in real estate. He recommended purchasing two properties a year, no matter what property type or condition. While a real estate appraiser, I have not kept up with two properties a year, but have bought and sold many properties since heeding that advice.
After FSU I moved back to Jacksonville and worked in sales for two companies – a business forms company and a mailing machines company. Not quite up my alley, this lasted for two and a half years. At this point I was considering other options, but knew real estate was a passion.
A real estate appraiser job opportunity arose with a Jacksonville area eminent domain appraisal firm that was very successful in Florida. I took this position and during this time I earned my MAI designation and learned the intricacies of eminent domain. Eminent domain is considered a specialty in commercial real estate appraisal that allows for opportunities to value many property types.
I’ve valued many property types, but still haven’t appraised everything. Over twenty years I’m still learning. Always looking for a challenge, I left specializing in only eminent domain appraising. I am with Florida Valuation, Inc. This has allowed me to diversify and increase my appraisal tools and knowledge. It has been a perfect match for my skill set. I value local properties, portfolio properties and regional eminent domain projects/properties.
I live in Fleming Island, Florida with an awesome wife and four wonderful children.
